C R O S S - P L A T F O R M
Since were less than 10 percent of the computer market, theres a darn good chance that us Mac users will have to work with Windows users at some point. But, thankfully, the Mac makes that easy.
Macs (since about 1995) have been able to read Windows diskettes and removable media. We can take your Word 2000 document, copy it off the disk, and open it with Word 98. However, if I put a Mac disk with a Word 98 document on it in a Windows PC, that PC would be completely unable to even see whats on the disk itself, let alone read the document.
Even Windows 2000 doesnt have the functionality built in to read Mac disks. And you were wondering about their monopoly mentality.
Of course, you can buy software for Windows that reads the disks for you. But Mac OS comes with the functionality straight out of the box.
