I N T E R N A T I O N A L I Z A T I O N

It was just a small thing. All I wanted to do was type a ç character for my French homework. So I open up character map, find what four-digit code I type with the ALT key held down, and I have my ç character. I still remember that ALT+0233 gets é.

Or, conversely, I could just press Option+C. And if I wanted a capital Ç, just type Option+Shift+C. What a novel idea: being able to find special characters on the keyboard without consulting a character chart. ® is Option+R, and ¢ is Option+4. Makes sense, doesn’t it?

Apple even manufactures localized versions of its "Pro" series keyboards, the first being for Spanish.

That’s one thing the Mac understands that Windows doesn’t: there are more than just Americans that use computers.
